Role Overview
We are working with a leading mid tier accountancy firm in Birmingham to appoint an Assistant Audit Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional ready to step into a more managerial role, taking ownership of audit engagements and supporting the development of junior team members.
You will work closely with managers and partners to deliver high quality audit assignments across a diverse portfolio of SME and mid market clients, with increasing responsibility for planning, execution and completion of audits.
This role is suited to a confident auditor who is ready to take the next step in their career, build leadership capability, and gain exposure to wider client management responsibilities.
What You Will Do
As an Assistant Audit Manager, you will:
Support the planning and delivery of audit assignments from end to end
Take responsibility for managing fieldwork on a portfolio of clients
Review audit work performed by juniors and seniors, ensuring quality and accuracy
Act as the main point of contact for clients during fieldwork phases
Assist managers and partners with reporting, completion and technical queries
In addition, you will:
Support the development and coaching of junior staff
Contribute to improving audit processes and engagement efficiency
Build strong client relationships and support ongoing service delivery
What We're Looking For
We are looking for individuals who bring:
ACA or ACCA qualified or near qualified
Strong external audit experience within a practice environment
Experience leading audit fieldwork or supervising junior team members
Good technical understanding of UK auditing standards and financial reporting
Strong communication skills and confidence working with clients
